Greetings,

I have personally found the Thunder Wolf District leadership team to be OUTSTANDING RESOURCES and SERVICE MINDED individuals.

I think it is a shame that few people are even aware that the District exists let alone who serves on it.

Is there a way for the District to notify all registered adults and Scouts of their existence as well as the GREAT WORK that it provides?

This would provide a BOOST in recruiting and retention.

Please consider

We do have an email distribution list aka "Debbie-mail" ... However, its hard to maintain that list.

The goal of this website is to be *the* central source of information. The more we drive people to this website, the less dependent we are on email

Every page on this Website is RSS-enabled so you can get "notified" on whatever information you want.

If you know don't know what RSS is, ask your son

Good morning Doug,

I do understand what the District is trying to accomplish with this website and I think that you have done a phenomenal job with it.

I am referring to a promotional or marketing campaign to simply notify all registered adults and scouts that the Thunder Wolf District exist.

From my own experience, it was only at my near breaking point that I decided to reach out to SHAC to address my concerns. They in turn directed me to the District Executive who directed me to the District. Before that I had no idea that there was a District staff who could or would help.

I would guess that there are many other parents within our District who experienced or are experiencing similar frustrations but don't know where to turn.

Further, I understand that not every unit has a working relationship with the District either because they choose not to have one or because they are not fully aware of the role and/or resources of the District.

Perhaps something as simple as posting the District website on any promotional literature or a one time mailer or email blast after rally night or recharter.

This is just one man's opinion.

Thank you for allowing me to share.

YIS

High on my list of goals is to find a better way to reach out to all registered leaders in the district. It isn't an easy task. My email systems will shut us out if we resort to email blasts, so we need to be smart about how we send out information. Ideally, we get as many registered leaders as possible to register on the site, then use the RSS feeds feature as a way of letting them know of information being posted on the site. Doug and I are also working on getting some of the other key leaders in the district involved in the content management of the site. The objective is to get more of them posting information on their own rather than relying on Doug or me to do so. I am open to more ideas.

Thanks for putting the District calendar on a Google calendar. That's something I've been wanting to see for a long time. I think it is a good way of getting the info directly to the people. We're using Google calendar for the Troop 1424 website also. I added the District calendar to our calendar feed and it mashes up together very well. We're also aggregating the district RSS feed onto our home page. www.bsatroop1424.com
